Schuurman is a professional engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Ontario, holding memberships with the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the Association of Christians in the Mathematical Sciences (ACMS) and the ACM Special Interest Group on Computer Science Education (SIGCSE). Coauthor of PSpice Simulation of Power Electronics Circuits (with R.S. Ramshaw, 1997), Schuurman is also an active researcher and speaker in the areas of robotics and computer vision as well as faith and technology issues.
